IMPOSSIBREW vs Collider (2026): price, blend, reviews and taste, compared

IMPOSSIBREW Enhanced Lager 440ml can next to a Collider Lager 330ml can on a kitchen counter

By IMPOSSIBREW. Updated 31 October 2026. We make IMPOSSIBREW, so weigh this accordingly. Every figure below has a source you can check.

On 26 October, Collider published a comparison of its beer and ours. It made some fair points, and we concede them below. It also compared some numbers that don't measure the same thing. This guide puts both beers on the same basis.

The 30-second answer

1. Price: compare litres, not cans

Collider's article says its cans are cheaper. Per can, they are: about £1.87 against our £2.13. But its can holds 330ml and ours holds 440ml, a third more beer.

Compare the same amount of beer and the order flips. On each brand's largest subscription pack:

  • IMPOSSIBREW: £85 for 40 × 440ml (17.6 litres) = 48.3p per 100ml
  • Collider: £89.96 for 48 × 330ml (15.84 litres) = 56.8p per 100ml

For the same 17.6 litres, you would pay £85.00 for IMPOSSIBREW and £99.96 for Collider. That is about 15% less. On one-off prices the gap is about 12% (56.8p against 64.4p per 100ml).

2. The blend: same unit, different answer

Collider's table puts "Unwind Blend, 400mg" next to "Social Blend, 375mg" and calls its own the bigger dose. Those numbers are not in the same unit. Our nutrition tables state 1,650mg per can of Social Blend™ per 100ml. A 440ml can therefore holds 1,650mg. Collider's article states 400mg for its blend; its product pages give no amount per can.

What's in each:

IMPOSSIBREW Social Blend™ Collider Unwind Blend
L-theanine Yes Yes
Ashwagandha Yes (root extract) Yes
Magnesium citrate Yes No
Citrus extract Yes No
Vitamin B1 Yes No
Soluble plant fibre Yes No
Lion's Mane No Yes

Collider's article lists our blend as "L-Theanine, Ashwagandha, Vitamin B1, soluble plant fibres, various plant extracts". It leaves out magnesium citrate and citrus extract, both named on our label.

A fair caveat: a blend's weight is the total of different ingredients. It tells you what is in the can, not how strongly a beer will make you feel anything, so we don't claim a bigger number means a bigger effect.

5. Taste

Collider says "an independent 2026 taste test" ranked it first. That test is a blog post by James Vincent from March 2026. He rated Collider 5 and IMPOSSIBREW 4, "top spot (just)", because he preferred Collider's IPA. He called the lagers "pretty even" and wrote "I'd happily take either". Our Lager won Gold with 91 points at the London Beer Competition 2022, and Collider's beers have also won medals there. Taste is personal, which is why every order from impossibrew.co.uk comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Where Collider wins

  • Lion's Mane. Only Collider's blend contains it.
  • Calories. About 11 per 100ml against our 17.
  • Price per can. If you want the cheapest single can, Collider's smaller can costs less.

So which should you buy?

Choose IMPOSSIBREW if you want the most beer for your money, a full 440ml can, a six-ingredient blend with 1,650mg per can, and five beers to rotate.

Choose Collider if Lion's Mane or the lowest calories matter most, or you prefer a smaller can.
